In order measure the success of an event specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time oriented (S.M.A.R.T) goals should be created for every category of the planning process. Below are the goals for the iConnect Event.
Budget:
We will stay within our $500 budget for the career center event and use it towards food and beverage, marketing, and entertainment. The budget will be planned in a time frame from now to November 19th when the event takes place. We will come up with a detailed budget plan to strategically decide how the money is being used in each area of planning.
Target:
The students that we will target the most will be students who are in their first or second year at Grand Valley State University. We will contact all of those students and inform them of the event taking place. However, the target is not limited to only first and second year students. Any student is welcome to attend the event.
Location:
The Career Services Event will take place at a convenient location for first and second year students to attend, since they are the main target market. It will be located in Allendale and will have enough room for at least 75-100 attendees to participate in interaction activities.
Environment:
The environment will be welcoming and comfortable for the duration of the event. By creating such an environment we will aim to make all students who attend feel that Career Services is a place for anyone to come. Despite being targeted to younger students, we do not want anyone to feel unwelcomed, but to have genuine interactions and leave feeling well informed.
Marketing:
We will come up with a marketing strategy that will grab the attention of students, especially GVSU freshman and sophomores. Our marketing techniques will stay within budget, while still being an effective social form of communication to bring in more students than previous years.
Energy:
The event will be high, positive energy from start to finish. As students hosting this event, we will bring our own energy to ensure things are fun and entertaining. We will recognize every student who comes, so that they feel the energy from the first “welcome” to “see you again soon!”
